Jamie, a young writer, struggles with social anxiety after her father disappears and abandons their family. Her twin brother, Lucas, and her mother, Susan, seem to be moving on just fine, but she can't seem to hold herself together. One day, she stumbles upon a diary and begins to write her thoughts in it. When she writes down her greatest wish-- to see her father again--- she falls asleep and wakes up in a mysterious world. Everything is beautiful, and her favorite food is on the table. Most importantly, her father is there, and he promises never to leave her again. Jamie begins to regularly visit this world. Meanwhile, in the land of the living, she befriends Mark, her brother's best friend, and Lisbeth and Marianne, also friends of Lucas. As the pull to stay with her father gets stronger and stronger, Jamie must confront her trauma and decide where she belongs, once and for all.
