Everyone in the city of Matersa, Illinois knows about Sugar's Sausages, the homey local barbecue joint run exclusively by women. Their ingredients are known for being fresh and locally sourced, and they offer the tastiest meat around. In fact, most people swear that they've never tasted a sausage like Sugar's before.

There's a reason for that.

​

When Nora is set up on an unexpected date, she is thrown into a world she never knew existed. When Jordan, her date, attempts to assault her, three rescuers come out of nowhere; sweet, understanding Julia, swift leader of the pack Crush, and sassy, tough Vera, the oldest of the three. They quickly execute Jordan and drag him back to Sugar's Sausages, where they reveal to Nora the true nature of their business: their sausages are made from the bodies of the city's most dangerous men. Nora joins the Sugar's Sausage Sisterhood, but slowly loses her mind as she realizes just how many bad men there are, including members of her own family. When she becomes pregnant, she goes on a crusade, killing men recklessly and indiscriminately as she desperately tries to make the world a better place for her unborn daughter.

That is... until she realizes she's having a son.

This dark, quirky, dramedy explores bodily autonomy, feminism, and how to accept the fact that a part of us will always be living in fear, no matter how hard we fight to drown it out.
